What Is a Bucket Washer?
Bucket Washer is a piece of equipment employed to wash coarse and fine materials by agitating them in water with an agitating tool like revolving buckets or paddles. It is primarily used for:
Removal of clays, silts, and other impurities from aggregates.
Washing sand and gravel to produce clean construction material.
Material preparation for further classification and dewatering.

Model | Length (m/ft) | Width (m/ft) | Height (m/ft) | No. of Buckets | Bucket Wheel Diameter (m) | Bucket Wheel Speed (rpm) | Screw Diameter (m) | Screw Length (m) | Screw Speed (rpm) |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
PBW10 | 9.4 / 30.84 | 3.1 / 10.17 | 3.66 / 12 | 48 | 3.5 | 0–3 | 2.1 | 4 | 0–11 |
PBW15 | 6.2 / 20.34 | 4.4 / 14.44 | 3.25 / 10.66 | 36 | 2.6 | 0–3 | 2.1 | 2.6 | 0–11 |
What is a Dewaterer?
A Dewaterer is a machine which is used to remove excess water in the washed material in a manner that the end product will have low moisture content. It is typically used after washing processes.
Working Principle:
Dewaterers utilize high-frequency vibration and mild upward slope to allow separation of water from solids. Water is drained out through the screen media as the material moves upward and discharges with much lower moisture content.
Advantages:
Reduces moisture content to as low as 8–15%
Produces stackable and shippable material
Reduces stockpile drainage and water loss
Helps in meeting product specifications faster

What is a Classificator?
A Classificator (also referred to as a Sand Classifier or Screw Classifier) sorts materials by size and/or density. They are usually utilized to recover fine sand particles lost during washing and to sort material into various grades.
Working Principle:
Material is blended with water and fed into a tank where the screw or raking system gradually transports the solids up the slope and allows overflows of the lighter material and silt. The heavier, wanted particles are trapped and discharged.
Advantages:
Recovers valuable fine material
Improves quality of overall sand product
Decreases waste sent to settling ponds
Adjustable control for wide range of material gradations

Sand Washing Machine
In a typical sand and gravel processing plant:
Raw material with impurities is first treated using a Bucket Washer.
Cleaned material and slurry are transferred to a Classificator for sorting useful fine sands.
Sorted material is then supplied to a Dewaterer to drain excess water.
The end product is a dry, clean, and well-graded aggregate for concrete-making or other applications.
Sludge Dewatering Equipment
Bucket Washers, Dewaterers, and Classificators are key machines in effective material cleaning, separation, and dewatering across various industries. Used together in harmony, they provide outstanding performance in quality, efficiency, and sustainability. Rely on Polygonmachine for end-to-end, reliable, and innovative material processing solutions.

How Bucket Washer, Dewaterer, and Classificator Work Together
When combined together, these machines create a very efficient material processing line that includes:
Bucket Washer: Cleans raw material by flushing out impurities like clay and silt.
Classificator: Classifies and recovers fine particles in a best particle size distribution.
Dewaterer: Finishes off the process by drying the material to a satisfactory level of moisture, making the material transportable, stockpilable, or available for further processing.
Integration yields:
Better product quality
Higher recovery rates
Lower operational costs
Environmental savings due to a decrease in the use of water
